In times of severe drought, the Morans, the young warriors, from each tribe fight each other. That's why Augustine brings them together in the Moran Regreening project at the UBUNTU Center, taking responsibility for the tree planting and water management project.
It is an intensive project, because there are also wild animals that like to eat the leaves and trees in Marsabit. To prevent this, the first hectare of the UBUNTU Center has already been fenced. The UBUNTU Center covers a total of 4 hectares. The dream is to plant as many trees as possible here to show that it is possible to grow trees in places where it rarely rains. Together with the Morans, Augustinus already created smart solutions for this challenging situation and proved that it is possible! For example, through homemade water collection points and drip irrigation through water bottles.
After being successful in the UBUNTU Centre, Morans can plant trees together in all communities. A smart and sustainable way to break the cycle of fighting for water and working together on Water for Peace. In 2024 we want to plant at least 500 trees in the UBUNTU Centre. To do this we have to fence the 4 hectare and make another big rain water catchment.
