Everything NPYDO has done as well as all activities demonstrated by the UBUNTU Centre are done from the power of the community, accessible, affordable and appropriate, well embedded in local culture, encouraged and awarded by the elderly and the community councils. All that is done is replicable to other communities and adds to the number of people served, trained, empowered. The solutions are locally accessible (like the rainwater harvesting devices, the biogas digester, the water filter, the handpumps, the poultry holding.).
Tree planting on a large scale will contribute to rain and positive change of the climate. And creates peace with the increased access to water , especially if more water catchment areas will be rehabilitated and well managed.
What is done in Hula Hula can be done in other communities. What is done in Marsabit county can be done in other counties with identical problems and challenges. The whole concept is replicable , scalable and can reach huge numbers. The costs so far have not exceeded a total of 25.000 euro in the last 7 years , so less than 3.000 euro/year.
